Hot Sand Hopping in the Sunshine State

3 Jul

After spending a glorious weekend in Charleston, we headed on to Florida to spend the week. I must admit, once I get to the beach it is so hard to leave! I love just laying in the sand, soaking up the sun!

While in Florida, we went to the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine and here is what I wore!

The St. Augustine Alligator Farm was awesome! Don’t worry! They don’t actually “farm” alligators. It is just a Zoo that features a HUGE variety of different reptiles; especially alligators! If reptiles aren’t really your thing, they also have many beautiful birds and monkeys.

You really just can’t imagine how magnificent and giant these guys are until you see them up close and personal.

They had this big albino alligator. It really was so incredible it barely looked real.

He looks like he is grinning! Look at those teeth!

One of our favorite spots that we always visit when in Florida is The Golden Lion Cafe at Flagler Beach. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is even better. It is an open air restaurant (except for a few covered areas) right next to the ocean. The have a great variety of fresh seafood (try the salmon tacos or the coconut shrimp! They are so good!) and a great cocktail selection as well. They frequently have live music complete with a sand dance floor. It really is a must visit if you are anywhere near Flagler Beach.

St. Augustine in Florida is one of my favorite places. It is a beautiful city and just happens to be the oldest in the United States. As a result, there are so many fun historical hings to see in St. Augustine. The buildings themselves are so gorgeous and totally worth the visit. While in St. Augustine, Fort Matanzas is a must visit. Built in 1740, the fort is complete with a drawbridge and you can now tour the entire structure. I always feel like I’m in Lord of the Rings every time I’m there!

Despite my acute attachment to the beach, I was so glad to come home and see our animals! However, I must say, I look forward to going back. Everyone needs a vacation!

Super cute shorts! Where are they from?

Thank you! Weirdly enough they were actually jeans! I bought them from a local thrift shop and cut them off into shorts! I think I gave $3 for the jeans; they make perfect high waisted shorts!
