I’m obsessed with maxi dresses. They are such a comfortable and easy summer staple. But do we really have to put them away when summer is over? Of course not! They are so easy to layer and are perfectly suited for fall weather. Here is how I transformed my solid black maxi dress into a fun outfit for fall.
I scored this maxi at Old Navy a few weeks ago for $5 (woohoo!).
I also got this tee from Old Navy for $3 (wow!). I bought it a few sizes too big so it would be slouchy.
Taddaaaa! By just simply popping that $3 tee over the dress I have a great fall outfit! Not only was this outfit incredibly cheap, but it’s also comfy and fall appropriate.
Are you still rocking your maxi dresses this fall?
I know I’ve been absent lately from the blogging world *sigh*. I’ve just been so busy and working on some other fun, fashion-y projects. From now on, though, I’m going to try and blog a little more often. Pinky promise!
Today’s post is all about an outfit I wore to work this afternoon. I love this maxi skirt! The fact that it’s long but short at the same time is fun with just a touch of sexy. Sorry the pictures aren’t the best quality. The lighting inside my house is pretty crappy at night!
Skirt and studded smoking slippers from Maurices. T-shirt, necklace, and bracelet from Old Navy.
Kyleigh is always jumping into the pictures! Today it was with bunches of kisses!
Last week, Ike and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary! It is so cliche to say that it doesn’t seem possible that it has been a year, but the cliche totally applies here! As does the age old saying “time flies when you are having fun!” I am so very blessed to be married to my best friend.
Here are a few photos from our big day courtesy of Kasey Kesner Photography!
For our anniversary, Ike planned a wonderful surprise date night! He would not tell me where we were going! That day, before the big surprise, we hit up some local flea markets (which is a weekend routine for us! We LOVE searching through junk looking for treasures!) and grabbed a sushi lunch. That evening he revealed to me that he had made reservations for dinner at at the Martha Washington Inn Restaurant! I had never been, but had always want to! The Martha Washington Inn was originally built in 1832 and served as an all girls college, then a hospital for soldiers during the civil war, and now as a hotel, restaurant, and spa.

Being the sweetie he is, Ike bought me an entire outfit to wear to dinner! He even got my sizes right and, if I dare say, I couldn’t have picked out a cuter outfit myself!
Dress, belt, and necklace: Oldnavy. Wedges: Maurices.
We had such an incredible time! The food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. The inside of the hotel is as stunning and history-filled, as the outside. I cannot wait to go back again! I’m hoping this becomes an anniversary tradition. 🙂
I really love Jessica Alba’s style. She always manages to look chic and put together but still extremely laid back and comfortable. Here are two outfits she was recently spotted wearing and these are some pieces very similar to those that she is wearing for a fraction of the price. Hope you enjoy!
I especially love this look and its perfect for fall! Remember: you CAN wear white after labor day! Just make sure you mix lighter fabrics with heavy chunky ones to make it more fall appropriate.
Her outfit is so simple but so cute! The red skinny jean is a great transition from the brighter neon pants that we saw everywhere this summer to a more becoming color for fall. The blazer and white tee is a combo every girl should have in her closet. So versatile!
All of us have those cute, little summer dresses that we do not want to have to put away when fall comes rolling around. The great thing is that we don’t have to put them away! One easy way to carry a summery dress into fall is with a leather bomber style jacket and some tough boots.
Sundresses are versitale and comfortable in the summer and can be the same in the fall! Just throw a chunky knit sweater over the dress to turn it into a flirty printed skirt! Top if off with a scarf and boots and you are ready to go!
Tights and leggings can be added to any of these looks for extra warmth. Also, knee high or over the knee socks can be included! Comment and let me know how you take your summer dresses into fall!
Here are two outfits that are both cute and comfortable! So ditch those sweatpants next time you head to class!
